Alex Lykos is a theatre-maker and filmmaker based in Sydney. He has been writing, acting and directing for 16 years.
Alex is most known for his record-breaking Alex & Eve stage series. The 4 shows have been seen on stage by over 40,000 people across Australia. Alex adapted Alex & Eve for the big screen which premiered in cinemas across Australia in October of 2015, grossing almost $700,000 at the box office, played at the Cannes Antipodes Film festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival before a theatrical release in the US.
Alex made his feature film acting debut in the movie playing Alex’s older brother. As an actor, Alex has performed the role of Alex in all of the theatrical productions of the Alex & Eve series. He performed the lead role of his own play Better Man in addition to leading roles in The Negotiating Table, A Long Night, It’s War and Australia’s Game. Alex directs all of the shows he writes and in 2016 he directed his first ever stage musical Australia’s Game which premiered to a sold-out season along with a sold-out return season.
Lykos wrote, directed and acted in his second feature film, Me & My Left Brain. The film premiered in cinemas across the country in May of 2019, has played at 8 International film festivals and has been sold to 23 countries around the world and is now playing on Amazon Prime in the US, UK and Canada. In 2021, Alex wrote and performed a one man show.
Jawbone played to sold-out seasons in Sydney and Newcastle where it was nominated for Best New Show how at the Newcastle Fringe before beginning a national tour which was shut down due to Covid. Alex is currently shooting his latest feature film Disconnect Me which will be released in early 2023.
